One person is dead after a two-car-crash on State Highway 33 at Paengaroa in the Western Bay of Plenty.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 10am morning, where both drivers were found trapped in their vehicles.
One driver died at the scene and the other has leg and chest injuries.
Police are diverting traffic around the crash site via Old Coach Road, Roydon Downs Road and Allports Road.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
