The number of million-dollar houses in Auckland continues to rise.
Real estate agents Barfoot and Thompson sold 859 houses in January, 21 percent of them for over $1 million, compared with 11 percent of the sales in January last year.
Houses under $500,000 accounted for just a quarter of its sales in Janauary.
The median price was just over $757,000 - little changed from December.
Managing director Peter Thompson said prices usually dropped off in January as people focused on holidays, but this year had held on to pre-Christmas highs.
The 859 houses sold in the month was in line with the past two years.
