Bones found on lake foreshore

Police are examining a site at the foreshore of Lake Wakatipu near Kingston, after bones were discovered there yesterday evening.

A police spokesperson said initial indications were that they were likely to be animal bones.

But they have been removed from the site, close to the base of the Kingston wharf, for forensic examination.

It is not the first time bones discovered on the Kingston foreshore have prompted interest, with the whereabouts of two-year-old Amber-Lee Cruickshank still a mystery.

She went missing in 1992 and the case remains open and active.
