A teenager is in a serious condition after being crushed by a digger bucket in a workplace accident in Kaiapoi.

St John Ambulance was alerted at about 11.30am with two ambulances and a rapid response unit sent to the scene.
A spokesperson said the male teenager received very serious injuries and was in Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.
