A search is underway for a 25-year-old man, who has failed to return after a day spent snorkelling at Cable Bay in Northland.
Police said the man was reported missing at about 3pm, after he had not been seen for about three hours and his catch bag had washed ashore.
A full search and rescue is underway involving police and the coastguard, as well as an aerial search.
A police dive squad is heading to the area and family members have also joined the search.
