A one-year-old girl is in Christchurch Hospital's intensive care unit with a serious head injury.

Police said they were informed last night by staff at the hospital and were conducting a forensic investigation at a Worcester Street address.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Anderson said police were investigating the serious and unexplained head injuries.
He said police may look at other addresses and were working with medical staff and the baby's parents and extended family.
