A Christchurch man died after a diving accident on the Banks Peninsula yesterday.
The 54-year old man had been diving near Whakamoa Reef, a popular crayfish diving spot.
Police said there were three people on the boat and one person diving, when the diver got into difficulties.
He was pulled from the water and taken back to the Akaroa Wharf, but was dead when St John ambulance staff attended him.
The death had been referred to the coroner.
