A 28-year-old Napier man faces a court appearance in connection with a police officer being hit by a car in Hawke's Bay early on Friday morning.
Robbie Richards, who had Black Power connections, was sought by police as he had connections to the silver Honda CRV involved.
The police constable was sent to hospital after being hit by a speeding car at a alcohol checkpoint near Clive.
The car crashed moments later.
The injured constable remained in Hawke's Bay Hospital in a stable condition, with leg injuries and cuts.
Mr Richards was arrested in Hastings and would appear in Napier District Court on Monday charged with separate offences.
No decision had been made yet on what charges would be laid over the incident at the checkpoint.
