A section of State Highway 3 in Waikato where a woman was killed by falling rocks is to have a steel net anchored to it, to catch falling debris.
A 76-year-old woman died near Piopio in March after the car in which she was a passenger was hit on the highway.
A crew of abseilers will begin clearing loose rocks from tomorrow.
Then a drill rig, attached to two cranes, will anchor the 1600 square metre steel net.
The Transport Agency said the steel net is the best long-term solution at the site.
The $2.5 million safety project is expected to be completed by early December.
