Canterbury's Mt Hutt skifield has postponed its opening on Saturday because the weather's too warm and rain is on the way.
Ski area manager James Mackenzie said after snowfalls in April and May, and 110 hours of snowmaking over the past few days, he's disappointed the forecast is for quite a lot of rain.
Mr Mackenzie says further snow is forecast for Sunday and into next week and Mt Hutt will open as soon as it can.
