200 sign for possible class action against EQC

2:27 pm on 8 November 2013

Almost 200 Christchurch residents have expressed interest in taking a class action against the Earthquake Commission over their claims.

The action is being headed by law firm Anthony Harper which publicly sought expressions of interest in October.

Lawyer Simon Munro says those interested have been asked to complete a questionnaire to confirm the issues they are facing in dealing with EQC.

He says the responses will assist in determining the scope of the proceedings against EQC.

But while there is strong interest, Mr Munro says there is no yet any guarantee that the proceeding will go ahead.

A meeting will be held at the Cardboard Cathedral on the evening of 25 November to formally bring the group together.
