Hospice Taranaki is extending its home-based care around the region, to cater to an increasing ageing population.
From Tuesday, specialist palliative nurses will start seeing patients in Stratford, Opunake and Patea, taking over from district health board nurses.
Chief executive Kevin Nielsen said the move has been driven by the region's rising ageing population.
He said it will also provide more consistent care, as patients in those areas already have access to other hospice services.
