Auckland Transport's new transport card system will be extended to buses from June.
The Hop card made its debut on rail services last November and was introduced to ferries the following month.
Auckland Transport said the system's introduction to 1100 buses will be completed in phases, starting with Urban Express services in June.
From next week, the agency will begin a campaign to inform customers of the changes.
Chief operating officer Greg Edmonds said there will be ambassadors on buses to help people during the changeover.
