A fire that burnt 15 hectares of pine forest near Tarras in Central Otago has been contained.
The Fire Service says the blaze appears to have begun from a vegetation burnoff last week, which reignited during hot and strong nor'westerly winds on Friday.
Rain is also forecast for the area.
Six fire appliances from Wanaka, Cromwell, Luggate and Tarras were at the scene on Friday afternoon along with helicopters and water tankers, but have now left the site.
The Department of Conservation says it has crews at the scene with tankers and a digger.
It says it will monitor the site overnight on Friday and launch an investigation next week.
