Don't hurry Crafar decision, says Key

The Prime Minister doesn't want decisions rushed on the Crafar farm deal.

The High Court has ordered the Government to reconsider its approval of Shanghai Pengxin's $200 million offer for the 16 farms.

The Overseas Investment Office said last week that it would take just a few days to prepare a new recommendation for ministers.

John Key says Crown Law is providing the OIO with advice on the court ruling and he would have thought they would want to take time to carefully consider that advice.

He says it is important that the OIO and Government ministers fully understand the ruling.

Mr Key says it looks to him like the tests under the Overseas Investment Act have been tightened.

He says it is unlikely the court decision will be appealed.
