The Government's sport and recreation arm, SPARC, is to be renamed.
From 2012, it will be known as Sport New Zealand.
Sports Minister Murray McCully says the new title better reflects its role and the change in the organisation's strategic focus following the transfer of its High Performance unit to a new organisation - High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ).
Mr McCully says Sport New Zealand will continue to invest in community sport and recreation and build capacity across the entire sector.
SPARC was established in 2003 and evolved from the Hillary Commission.
