Legislation banning synthetic cannabis products such as Kronic has passed its final reading in Parliament and is set to become law.
The Misuse of Drugs Amendment Act will also make precursor substances used in the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine available only on prescription.
The bill passed 104 to 15 on Thursday, with the Green and ACT parties, and independent MP Chris Carter opposed.
Associate Health Minister Peter Dunne says the amendments will give him the power to make 43 synthetic cannabis products temporarily illegal while the Government works on a more permanent solution.
