Four National MPs vying for candidacy for Epsom

3:30 pm on 24 June 2011

Four National Party members are vying to be the party's candidate to contest the Epsom electorate, and go up against former Auckland mayor John Banks.

The nominees include three former Auckland City councillors: Aaron Bhatnager, Paul Goldsmith and Richard Simpson.

The former president of the United Future party, Denise Krum, is also nominated.

The successful candidate will be selected on 18 July.

John Banks, a former National Minister, is standing for the Act Party after Epsom's current MP, Rodney Hide, was rolled by Don Brash.

Mr Hide is not allowed to stand again for Act.
