Goff won't rule out working with Harawira

8:03 pm on 8 February 2011

Labour leader Phil Goff says his party would work with Hone Harawira in Parliament on issues that are for the good of all New Zealanders.

Mr Harawira, the MP for Te Tai Tokerau, was suspended on Monday from the Maori Party caucus but is vowing to stay with the party.

On Tuesday he resumed his attack on the Maori Party's relationship with the National Government, but says he still intends to stand for the party at this year's election

Mr Goff says he fundamentally disagrees with Mr Harawira on some issues.

However, Mr Goff says that does not mean he could not work with him on areas of common interest for values Labour believes in.
