Education Minister Anne Tolley has told the National Party's annual conference that education unions will not stop the introduction of national standards in primary schools.
Speaking at the conference in Christchurch on Saturday, Mrs Tolley says the Government will introduce national standards for literacy and numeracy so that parents can get plain English reports on the progress of their children.
"And no-one and no organisation is going to stop us from providing that ifnormation to parents. They want it, they deserve it and we're going to deliver it."
