A new poll suggests there is support for reducing the number of MPs in Parliament and for a referendum on the voting system.
A survey of 750 New Zealanders by UMR Research found three quarters favoured reducing the size of Parliament from the current 122 MPs to 100.
It also found nearly two-thirds supported a referendum on the voting system.
The poll was commissioned by Put MMP to the Vote.
National has said it will hold a referendum on MMP, no later than 2011.
The poll was conducted in the first week of July and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6%.
