Greenpeace has joined forces with actress Lucy Lawless and other celebrities and business leaders to lobby Prime Minister John Key to reduce carbon emissions.
Ms Lawless hosted the launch of the petition, called Sign On, at her Auckland home on Saturday afternoon.
She was joined by actor-comedian Rhys Darby, actress Robyn Malcolm and businessmen Michael Fay and Stephen Tindall.
Greenpeace wants the Government to commit to a 40% cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020.
Its campaign is aimed at the United Nations climate talks in Copenhagen in December, which is intended to reach an agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol.
