United Future leader Peter Dunne is distancing himself from an organisation he supported that was headed by Christine Rankin.
Mr Dunne has criticised Ms Rankin's appointment to the Families Commission saying it is a poor decision that will compromise the Commission's future.
Last year, Ms Rankin stood down as chief executive of For the Sake Of Our Children Trust, which ran a campaign to turn social policy around and stop families breaking up.
At its launch in 2005, Mr Dunne was listed as a supporter, along with Maori Party co-leader Peter Sharples, and then-MP Muriel Newman.
But aside from appearing in a promotional video before the trust was formed, Mr Dunne says he is not a member of the trust and has never given it any financial support or attended one functions.
