The United Future Party has selected former MP Judy Turner to stand in the Mt Albert by-election.
Mrs Turner, a list MP between 2002 and 2008, is president of United Future.
Mrs Turner says the people of Mt Albert need a committed representative and she believes she offers voters a real alternative.
United Future leader and sole MP, Peter Dunne, says Mrs Turner is an outstanding candidate and offers more Parliamentary experience than the other candidates combined.
The by-election will be held on 13 June and is being called to fill the seat vacated by
former prime minister Helen Clark, who now works for the United Nations.
