An outgoing advisor to the Families Commission says the appointment of Christine Rankin helped her decide to quit.
Ms Rankin's appointment as a Families Commissioner has already been criticised by three political parties but she says she has no intention of turning down the position.
However, Druis Barret, a Maori advisor to the commission for three years, says she will now resign from her role.
She says while not the only reason, Ms Rankin's appointment has helped her decide to leave.
