The Government says it will meet any shortfall in funding to ensure the continued operation of community law centres.
Last year, 27 law centres obtained $10.97 million, most of it from lawyers and conveyancers.
But a slowing housing market and lower interest rates mean the centres face a cut in funding of 68% next financial year.
Justice Minister Simon Power says the Government will cover the difference to ensure law centres have the same amount of money next year as they did in the 2008-2009 financial year.
Mr Power says the centres provide an important service and the Government is committed to ensuring everyone, not just a privileged few, has access to justice.
