The Council of Trade Unions is urging the New Zealand Government to take practical action in response to the Gaza conflict.
Its suggests revokes the credentials of the Israeli ambassador, ending a working holiday scheme for young Israelis and banning some Israeli imports.
On Wednesday, two Israeli women were asked to leave an Invercargill cafe by its Turkish Muslim owner, who referred to the conflict in Gaza.
CTU president Helen Kelly says this is an example of individuals taking action because there has been no response from the Government.
She says the Government needs to show some leadership on the issue.
