Hide to get ministerial job outside Cabinet

2:59 pm on 10 November 2008

ACT Party leader Rodney Hide looks set to get a position of minister outside Cabinet, and potentially a position for another one of his colleagues as well.

Mr Hide and National leader John Key have just finished talks at Parliament on Monday afternoon.

Afterwards, Mr Hide said he had formally pledged ACT's support for National on confidence and supply, but no deal has yet been struck.

The position of a minister outside Cabinet was created in 2005 to give the minister room to criticize the government on areas outside his or her portfolio.

Mr Key indicated that could work for an arrangement with ACT.
