The Government is defending its breakfast launch of the Maori Dictionary, saying it did not cost $75,000 as the National Party claims.
National claims the launch in Wellington earlier in September included a lavish breakfast of muttonbird, champagne and oysters.
But Maori Affairs Minister Parekura Horomia says the launch involved a two-day symposium, not just a breakfast.
In Parliament on Thursday, Mr Horomia said he expected the cost of the entire event to be well under $75,000.
He says the Maori Language Commission has contributed $50,000 toward the launch.
