Mr Harawira said on Wednesday they met at a friend's house on the North Shore in February and not at Mr Dotcom's Coatesville mansion near Auckland.

Mr Harawira said he did not ask for any funding, nor was any offered, and they discussed their common dislike of the National-led Government.

"I wouldn't accept money. We've had the opportunity to have a chat about a whole range of things. But it's not about money - it's about relationships, it's about changing the nature of this country's governance. It's about doing whatever we can to get rid of John Key."

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters and Greens' co-leader Russel Norman have previously confirmed meeting with Mr Dotcom.

Mr Harawira said he turned down an invitation to Mr Dotcom's mansion last year.
