Labour Party leader David Cunliffe has appointed journalist and columnist Simon Cunliffe as his media director and chief press secretary.
Mr Cunliffe, who is David Cunliffe's first cousin, is currently the acting chief of staff of Fairfax Editorial Services and has previously worked for The Press and the Otago Daily Times.
He will take up his new role on 13 January.
