The Prime Minister says the cancellation of United Future's registration as a political party will not have any impact on their governing relations.
The Electoral Commission has cancelled United Future's registration at the party's request because of inconsistencies in its records, and whether it has the required 500 members.
John Key said it does not have any bearing on National's support agreement with United Future or the ability of party leader Peter Dunne to continue as a minister of the Crown.
Mr Key said that if United Future cannot resolve the issue before the next election, Mr Dunne would have to stand as an independent MP.
