The Government is sending a small team of immigration officials to advise officials from 10 Pacific Island nations on how to recognise signs of human trafficking.
It is part of a joint partnership with the United States government, targeting managers within local police and border agencies.
Three New Zealand officials will be on the ground in Fiji, talking to officials from 10 different Pacific Island countries about how to recognise trafficking later in April.
They will also be taught how to identify victims, and how to treat them to ensure they don't feel like they're being treated like criminals.
