Labour to move vote to condemn Fiji video

7:10 am on 7 March 2013

Labour will move a notice of motion in Parliament next week condemning the beating and torture of two men in Fiji, one of them an escaped prisoner.

The event was captured on video and police in Fiji say they are investigating.

Labour Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Phil Goff said New Zealand can't remain silent when confronted with evidence of human rights abuses in neighbouring countries.

Mr Goff said he expects unanimous support for the motion in Parliament.
