NZ First conference

8:24 am on 15 June 2012

New Zealand First says it is already looking ahead to the next general election as it prepares to hold its first major conference since returning to Parliament.

New Zealand First secured almost 7% of the vote and eight seats at last year's election, after three years outside Parliament.

Party leader Winston Peters says this weekend's conference is his first chance to thank members for helping the party back into Parliament.

He says the party had a remarkable recovery at the 2011 election and it must build on that by growing its party membership.
