The Labour Party's foreign affairs spokesperson is calling on the United Nations to take military action against forces in Syria.
Phil Goff says he applauds the UN Security Council's unanimous condemnation of the Syrian government for its use of heavy weapons against the town of Houla where 108 people, including
49 children, died in a massacre on Friday.
However, he says it will take more than resolutions.
Mr Goff says the UN has to do whatever is necessary - including direct action - to stop the killing of innocent people.
