Prime Minister John Key says Singapore is a great hub from which to branch out trade into other parts of Asia.

On a one-day visit to Singapore with a business delegation, Mr Key said it's a big market for New Zealand, with two-way trade worth about $3 billion a year.

He says both countries are proponents of free trade and have a good working relationship.

After addressing a business meeting, Mr Key was to meet the prime minister and president of Singapore on Wednesday evening.
