ACC leak investigation to examine ministerial computer

9:59 am on 29 March 2012

The ACC Minister says an investigation by the Privacy Commissioner into how the name of a claimant, Bronwyn Pullar, ended up in the media is likely to include a forensic examination of her ministerial computer.

Ms Pullar's name and information about her dealings with ACC were leaked to a newspaper in early March.

The information came from an email sent to Minister Judy Collins by Ms Pullar's friend, the former National Party president Michelle Boag.

She says she welcomes the extension of the existing inquiry into ACC privacy breaches, which would likely include a forensic examination of the computers involved.

Ms Collins has confirmed that a copy of Michelle Boag's email was printed off and remains in her personal file.

Labour Party MP Trevor Mallard, however, says he believes the leak that led to the Ms Pullars's name ending up in the media came from the minister's office.

Ms Collins says neither she, nor her office, had anything to do with the leak.

But Mr Mallard says he does not agree with that.
