Pike families frustrated by delays

A spokesperson for the Pike River mine workers says he is fed up with continued delays in attempts to recover the remains of the 29 men killed last year.

Bernie Monk says a visit to Greymouth on Thursday by Prince William has boosted the spirits of the dead men's families.

The workers were killed in explosions at the mine in November last year.

The prince spent more than two hours in a private meeting with family members.

The mood at the meeting was upbeat and Mr Monk says families felt honoured by the prince's visit.

However, he says there are still frustrations at the delays at the mine site, which were added to this week by the failure of two robots that had been sent into the mine.
