Papua New Guinea's government has allocated 405,000 US dollars to help people affected by Friday's volcanic eruption in East New Britain province.
The Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill, says the money will help people relocate from near Mount Tavurvur, near the town of Rabaul.
The newspaper, The National, reports the provincial administrator, Akuila Tubal, urging people in Rabaul to clean their homes and ensure their water tanks were covered to prevent ash getting in.
The Rabaul Volcano Observatory says seismic activity has quietened now since Saturday, but low-level activity can be expected.
