Three miners are believed to be buried under a landslide near a goldmine in Papua.

The landslide occurred last Tuesday and killed seven people, in the Baya Biru area of Paniai District in Papua.

The Jakarta Globe reported 15 people had been buried, and only two of them were pulled out alive.

The Chief of Nabire District Military Command, Lieutenant Colonel Yohannes Purba, confirmed three more bodies were recovered over the last few days, leaving three more still to be found.

The newspaper says it's an illegal mining area.

Last month, the Indigenous Development Agency of Walani Mee and Moni tribes urged the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, to put an end to illegal mining, saying it was harming local communities.
