The first annual conference of Pacific Prosecutors begins in Samoa's capital on Monday.

Topics for discussion at the Apia meeting include prosecutors' independence, integrity and the challenges faced in the prosecution of certain crimes as well as procedures and evidence laws.

At the first Pacific Prosecutors' Conference last July a resolution was passed to form a Pacific Prosecutors Association and to hold an annual Prosecutors' Conference.

The meeting's widely supported by different international agencies including the Australian Association of Crown Prosecutors, New Zealand Crown Law, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Government of Samoa.

The conference runs until Thursday.
