Search continues for man seen running on Harbour Bridge

9:42 pm on 11 February 2012

A man who ended up in Auckland Harbour after running across the Harbour Bridge remains missing.

Police began a search after the man was seen on the bridge at about 1am on Saturday.

Officers in the police helicopter then saw the man in the water, but he subsequently disappeared from view.

Police say the search is proving difficult because they do not know who the man is, or if he made it out of the water.

They received many calls from people who saw the man on the north-bound carriageways in the early hours of Saturday morning, and have two descriptions of him.

One describes him as Pakeha in his late teens, slight in build with average-length dark hair and wearing light pants and a shirt.

He has also been described as 25-30 years old, wearing a blue dress shirt and pants.
