A Northland man has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of a Dargaville man in January.
Christopher Edwards, 61, died of head injuries on 13 January.
Police began an assault investigation after Mr Edwards was transferred to Auckland hospital with unexplained life-threatening head wounds.
They upgraded the investigation to a homicide inquiry when he died a few days later.
A 42-year-old Te Kopuru man was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Dargaville District Court today on the manslaughter charge.
