Police on Auckland's North Shore are searching for a daylight robber who stole a handbag from an elderly woman with what appeared to be a gun.
Detective Darren Attwood says the 77-year-old woman was walking home on Beach Road at Browns Bay at about 11.15am on Saturday when a man walked up to her and demanded her handbag.
Mr Attwood says when the woman refused the man pointed what appeared to be a gun at her chest and ripped the bag from her shoulder.
He escaped in a waiting old model, red, flat-deck ute, leaving the woman badly shaken but unharmed.
The robber and his driver are described as Pakeha men in their twenties, one bald and the other with close shaven hair.
