A teenager has appeared in Manukau District Court on charges of endangering transport after four aircraft were lit up with lasers over Auckland Airport.
Police allege the 18-year-old shone a green laser at three planes approaching the airport on Thursday night, as well as at the police Eagle helicopter, which was called to patrol the flight path.
They say the crew in all four craft were affected by temporary flash blindness.
The teenager appeared in court on Friday on four charges of endangering transport, each of which carries a prison term of up to 14 years.
He was remanded to appear in February.
