A Nelson man has been denied name suppression after appearing in court charged with multiple sex offences.
William Herbert Mortensen, 53, carpet cleaner, faces charges that include sexual violation of a boy, doing an indecent act on a child under 12, and indecency with an animal.
He has also been charged with stealing a class photograph from the Victory Primary School in Nelson.
Mr Mortensen has been remanded in custody until next week.
The police in Nelson say further charges are pending and they would like anyone with information about the accused man to contact them.
