Voters in the the Christchurch ward of Burwood-Pegasus will start to receive their postal ballots for the upcoming by-election from Wednesday.
The by-election was prompted after a councillor, Chrissie Williams, resigned last year.
Nine candidates are standing to be the new councillor of Burwood-Pegasus.
Voting closes on 10 February and results are expected to be known a week later.
