Bank says no plans for redundancies in NZ

The ANZ Bank in New Zealand says it has no plans for redundancies this year, but has not ruled them out in the future.

Media are reporting that the ANZ Bank in Australia is considering slashing jobs to bolster profits.

The ABC says hundreds of jobs are likely to go at the bank in the next six months as part of cost-cutting measures.

A spokesperson for ANZ New Zealand says the bank has no plans for company-wide redundancies during 2012 but is not ruling it out.

The spokesperson says the bank is constantly making changes to simplify its business and making sure it runs efficiently.
