Gore police locate man accused of breaching bail

Police in Gore say a man who fled during an incident in which two officers were assaulted is now in custody.

Police went to an Anderson Place property on Thursday night looking for an 18-year-old who was believed to have breached his bail.

There, police say a 21-year-old woman threw a chair at one of the officers - enabling the man to escape.

They say the woman then assaulted the second constable as he tried to stop the man getting over a fence.

The police searched the Mataura River from 11pm till 2am on Thursday without success.

The woman appeared in court on Thursday morning charged with assaulting a police officer, assault with a weapon and obstructing and resisting police.

She's been remanded in custody to reappear early next year.

The man has now been located and will appear in the Invercargill District Court on Friday.
